Welcome to Ettestad Farm

Would you like to spend your holidays where time stands still? Start the day when it suits you. Enjoy your first coffee outside in the morning-sun sitting against the timbered hut walls. Listen to the birds while fish hop in the nearby lake? Later on take a walk into the natural forest area where you can be peacefully alone. For the children there is, hay-hopping, meeting and feeding the farm animals or take a swim in the lake.

Welcome to our farm in Drangedal, South Telemark. We are 6 km off the main road nr.38, just 12km north-west of the small town centre. It’s 45 min. by car from Kragerø (coastal town) or Porsgrunn and Skien in East Telemark. From Oslo you need 3hrs. by car an d from Kristiansand a little less.

In the wintertime you are just 30min. from the Gautefall Hills, offering both alpine and cross-country skiing slopes. The popular family water park Bø Sommerland is only one hours drive from us.

Your hut is near the other farm houses and you can drive to the door. The hut is originally from the 17^th. Century and has been renovated to meet today’s standards without loosing the old warm charm. The hut take up to 10 people, the living-room has timber walls and a beautiful fireplace. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped, and the bathroom has toilet, shower and washing-machine.

The hut is available all year in all seasons, here are some recreations ideas:

-         paths for walks, hikes or bike rides and plenty of wild-life to observe like elks,    beaver, roe-deer, birds or hares

-         large lake for ideal for swimming, canoeing, fishing or a trip on our own motorized timber raft

-         rides by horse and cart under supervision

-         meet the farm’s tame animals like cats, rabbits, horse and goats at feeding time

-         from late summer there are wild berries and mushrooms in the forests

-         before Xmas, we decorate the hut indoors traditionally Norwegian and light up the open fire.

-         in the wintertime we offer sleigh rides with the horse

-         our very own farm museum is open all year

-         the children have plenty of space to play at

Prices:

The hut must be cleaned after use (this service can be offered for a small charge).
